There is a small but energetic Serbian Skinhead scene in The
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (a country now comprising
Serbia and Montenegro). The Skins' focus is on Serbian
nationalism, but they also embrace the racism and
anti-Semitism of their comrades around the world.
A Yugoslavia-based branch of a United States gang called
United White Skinheads is run by Branko Kunovki of Belgrade.
Kunovski, in a letter he wrote, took credit for vandalizing a
Belgrade synagogue with Nazi stickers from Gary Lauck's
Nebraska-based NSDAP-AO and boasted that he booby-trapped
them with hidden razors. Kunovski also runs _Predskaanje_
(Prediction), a skinzine, and distributes Serbian Skinhead
music internationally. The British skinzine _Last Chance_
reports a "massive" "oi" music scene in Serbia that includes
several nationalist Skinhead bands. Ritam Nereda (Rhythm of
Disorder) is the most well-known; they sing some songs in
English and have received favorable reviews in American and
British skinzines. In a 1993 issue of _Dixie Rose_, a
now-defunct skinzine from Texas, Boban, the band's singer,
described his outlook on recent Yugoslav history:
We think about ourselves as victims of the so called
"New World Movement." If the United (Z.O.G.)* Nations
hadn't fucked us up everything would be over. We would
have our territory back, have saved our people, stopped
the Muslims from conquering Europe again, and the war
would've ended a long time ago.
Other popular bands are Directori (Directors) and Generacija
Bez Buducnosti (Generation Without a Future). The
Detroit-based zine _Resistance_ reports that videos of these
bands as well as Ritam Nereda have been shown on television.

* Z.O.G., or Zionist Occupied Government, is a term used
mainly by American extremists to indicate Jewish domination of
the government.

Disclaimer: not all skinheads are neo-nazis or white
supremacists. There are many skinheads who are non- or anti-racist, and
who come from a variety of different religious and cultural backgrounds.
Nizkor recognizes their achievements in anti-racism: they are part of
the traditional, non-racist skinhead subculture and are not the
perpetrators of the hate crimes discussed here.
Unless otherwise specified, the word "skinhead" within these pages
refers only to neo-Nazi and white supremacist skinheads, the
perpetrators of hate crimes and participants in racist organizations.
