Ken McVay, shabbas-goy and his  CRIMINAL MONEY LAUNDERING 
TAX FRAUD involving the collusion of senior managers at 
B'nai Brith, is now being exposed by Canadian Jew News, the 
reliable jew newspaper, week after week, and is now a major 
cause of   B'Nai Brith Canada  Breaking Up!!

No wonder CRA & IRS are also so very interested!
No wonder politicians and tax collectors are interested!

McVay can not call all the news stories false, since they are carried 
in the leading jew newspaper in Canada, Canadian Jew News, week 
after week with more and more prominent jews in BB demanding details !

In the issue of Canadian Jew News for May 29 2008, on page 8 is an 
article giving further and latest details of the nefarious activities of those
mismanaging BB, and their attempts to keep the truth about their 
ILLEGAL MONEY-LAUNDERING FOR THE BUSINESS OPERATED 
BY McVAY, from the general members!

Not only was important long-time executive member Lou Ronson kicked out 
>from BB, several other very important long-time members of Upper Canada 
Lodge of BB were also expelled.

Sid Isenberg, the incoming President of the Lodge for 2008, who had not 
even received a notice of expulsion from BB;
the past president of the lodge, Mark Mittelman, and lloyd Lindsay who 
is the incoming third vice-president for 2008.

It seems that the current manipulators of BB just do not want their nefarious
collusion and criminal activites exposed to the light of day, with
consequential criminal charges, and loss of charitable status!!

Rumor is that CJN is now investigating further, with CRA, IRS,
BB executives, as well as RCMP and FBI regarding McVay's
CRIMINAL MONEY LAUNDERING WITH COLLUSION OF BB 
AND ALSO MAZAL'S SAAF!!

It seems that large group of past presidents, and BB lodge presidents,
are even considering breaking away from the present BB and setting 
up a new jew charity group.

Apparently the present gang running BB have refused to provide 
audited  financial statements before the AGM, as required. members 
are concerned about  what is happening to all the funds collected.

a religious organization and related parties for conspiracy to defraud the

TORONTO - A nasty battle is brewing at B'nai Brith Canada (BBC) over
allegations the organization's head office has centralized too much
power and is unaccountable to members - despite a decision of B'nai
Brith International's (BBI) court of appeal that appears to have
addressed the issue.

At least three former senior officials of B'nai Brith Canada are
raising concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency at
BBC's head office in Toronto. ...

20 people, four of them past presidents of BBC, others onetime lodge
presidents, are concerned about the direction the organization has
been taking.

A native of South Africa who immigrated to Canada 20 years ago, Gimpel

power and is unaccountable to members – despite a decision of B’nai
Brith International’s (BBI) court of appeal that appears to have
addressed the issue.

At least three former senior officials of B’nai Brith Canada are
raising concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency at
BBC’s head office in Toronto. Dissatisfaction is so great there has
been talk of breaking away to form a new service organization, one of
the ex-officials said.

At the same time, a group calling themselves “concerned members of
B’nai Brith Canada” have launched a newsletter purporting to offer
“BBC news without the spin.” Its May 10, 2007, inaugural issue states
the group’s goal is to “end the current dysfunctional corporate
governance at BBC and restore it to its once prominent position as a
respected and admired organization both inside and outside the Jewish
community.” The group claims to represent lodge past presidents, BBC
past presidents, members of BBC’s board of governors and national
administrative board.

The group’s concerns were first reported in the New York-based paper
the Forward.

BBC’s head office, meanwhile, rejects outright any suggestion there is
anything amiss in the organization’s corporate governance. Frank
Dimant, BBC’s executive vice-president, said all institutional changes
have been passed lawfully and complaints regarding the organization’s
corporate structure have been definitively rejected by B’nai Brith
International’s (BBI) highest appeal court. BBI is BBC’s parent
organization.

In interviews with The CJN, two former national presidents and a past
chair of the Toronto regional co-ordinating committee said too much
power is concentrated at the organization’s head office in Toronto and
the service group’s 4,000 members are being shut out of
decision-making. They called for greater corporate accountability and
transparency, particularly strict adherence to the organization’s
constitution, which requires the presentation of audited financial
statements prior to the annual general meeting  (AGM).

representative and transparent organization.

Most BBC members don’t know or don’t care about the goings-on at
headquarters, Wolfe said. They are content to participate in lodge
activities and don’t realize the organization has changed, he added.

He discounted suggestions that lodges might break away. BBC “still
does good work,” he said.

What he is after is reform.

“I’m not trying to destroy the organization,” he said. “I’m trying to
get some accountability and transparency.”

Crestohl, who served as BBC president in the late 1970s and who has
been a lodge member for 51 years, said he and the other past
presidents would like to see more BBC members get involved in
organizational governance.

“We need a grassroots movement. We also need some leaders in the
community who give support to B’nai Brith to realize what’s going on
and exert their influence on those running things to revert to being a
democratically run organization,” he said.

Dimant stated that BBI’s appeals court considered all the criticisms
and on July 20, 2007, ruled that “all the accusations have been
debunked.”

“This kind of guerrilla war is baseless and has been judged to be
without merit, without basis and can only be harmful to the total
Jewish community,” he said.

Dimant said B’nai Brith Canada has adopted a new constitution and
rules of governance similar to those employed by many other Jewish
organizations.

In particular, its constitution mirrors that of BBI. The change was
designed to strengthen its governance practices, stated BBC national
president Gerry Weinstein.

BBC provided The CJN with a one-paragraph statement quoting the BBI
appeals court judgment, but it did not provide any supporting
documentation.

The court ruled: “Having carefully reviewed all the pleadings,
arguments and documentation put forward by the parties, the justices
of this honourable court do unanimously find that there is no basis to
the complaints on which the appellants rely. The amended constitution
of B’nai Brith Canada was duly passed at a legally constituted meeting
of the organization within its governing body’s full jurisdiction. No
irregularity in the procedures followed by B’nai Brith Canada has been
made out that would invoke the jurisdiction of this court.
Accordingly, the appeal is hereby dismissed.”

Dimant said despite the court’s finding, “you have some disgruntled
members, a handful, very small.”

He said some have ties to The CJN and can be said to have a personal
conflict of interest in seeking to undermine BBC’s Jewish Tribune
newspaper.

As for the others, “we are talking about some individuals who like to
think history was different at one point. I think lots of people want
to recapture youth and reflect on things that didn’t happen the way
they remembered.

“My concern is that BBC is a leading Jewish organization, high
profile, which has great government relations. Our League [for Human
Rights] is doing a superb job to battle anti-Semitism. It would seem
to me the energies of these people should be directed forward to help
the Jewish community,” he said.

For his part, Gimpel rejects the BBI court decision, calling it “a
travesty of justice.”

He speculated that three, perhaps four lodges accounting for 25 per
cent of BBC’s membership might eventually leave the organization.

“I give B’nai Brith two years if this carries on. Members are getting
fed up… The lodges will be gone.”

BBC provided The CJN with a one-paragraph statement quoting the BBI
appeals court judgment, but it did not provide any supporting
documentation.

The court ruled: "Having carefully reviewed all the pleadings,
arguments and documentation put forward by the parties, the justices
of this honourable court do unanimously find that there is no basis to
the complaints on which the appellants rely. The amended constitution
of B'nai Brith Canada was duly passed at a legally constituted meeting
of the organization within its governing body's full jurisdiction. No
irregularity in the procedures followed by B'nai Brith Canada has been
made out that would invoke the jurisdiction of this court.
Accordingly, the appeal is hereby dismissed."

Dimant said despite the court's finding, "you have some disgruntled
members, a handful, very small."

He said some have ties to The CJN and can be said to have a personal
conflict of interest in seeking to undermine BBC's Jewish Tribune
newspaper.

As for the others, "we are talking about some individuals who like to
think history was different at one point. I think lots of people want
to recapture youth and reflect on things that didn't happen the way
they remembered.

"My concern is that BBC is a leading Jewish organization, high
profile, which has great government relations. Our League [for Human
Rights] is doing a superb job to battle anti-Semitism. It would seem
to me the energies of these people should be directed forward to help
the Jewish community," he said.

For his part, Gimpel rejects the BBI court decision, calling it "a
travesty of justice."

He speculated that three, perhaps four lodges accounting for 25 per
cent of BBC's membership might eventually leave the organization.

"I give B'nai Brith two years if this carries on. Members are getting
fed up. The lodges will be gone."

Not only was important long-time executive member Lou Ronson kicked out

TORONTO - A nasty battle is brewing at B'nai Brith Canada (BBC) over
allegations the organization's head office has centralized too much
power and is unaccountable to members - despite a decision of B'nai
Brith International's (BBI) court of appeal that appears to have
addressed the issue.

At least three former senior officials of B'nai Brith Canada are
raising concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency at
BBC's head office in Toronto. ...

20 people, four of them past presidents of BBC, others onetime lodge
presidents, are concerned about the direction the organization has

A native of South Africa who immigrated to Canada 20 years ago, Gimpel

TORONTO — A nasty battle is brewing at B’nai Brith Canada (BBC) over
allegations the organization’s head office has centralized too much
power and is unaccountable to members – despite a decision of B’nai
Brith International’s (BBI) court of appeal that appears to have
addressed the issue.

At least three former senior officials of B’nai Brith Canada are
raising concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency at
BBC’s head office in Toronto. Dissatisfaction is so great there has
been talk of breaking away to form a new service organization, one of
the ex-officials said.

At the same time, a group calling themselves “concerned members of
B’nai Brith Canada” have launched a newsletter purporting to offer
“BBC news without the spin.” Its May 10, 2007, inaugural issue states
the group’s goal is to “end the current dysfunctional corporate
governance at BBC and restore it to its once prominent position as a
respected and admired organization both inside and outside the Jewish
community.” The group claims to represent lodge past presidents, BBC
past presidents, members of BBC’s board of governors and national
administrative board.

The group’s concerns were first reported in the New York-based paper
the Forward.

BBC’s head office, meanwhile, rejects outright any suggestion there is
anything amiss in the organization’s corporate governance. Frank
Dimant, BBC’s executive vice-president, said all institutional changes
have been passed lawfully and complaints regarding the organization’s
corporate structure have been definitively rejected by B’nai Brith
International’s (BBI) highest appeal court. BBI is BBC’s parent
organization.

In interviews with The CJN, two former national presidents and a past
chair of the Toronto regional co-ordinating committee said too much
power is concentrated at the organization’s head office in Toronto and
the service group’s 4,000 members are being shut out of
decision-making. They called for greater corporate accountability and
transparency, particularly strict adherence to the organization’s
constitution, which requires the presentation of audited financial
statements prior to the annual general meeting  (AGM).

Morley Wolfe and Harvey Crestohl – both BBC past presidents – said
they want to see B’nai Brith revert to a more democratic,
representative and transparent organization.

Most BBC members don’t know or don’t care about the goings-on at
headquarters, Wolfe said. They are content to participate in lodge
activities and don’t realize the organization has changed, he added.

He discounted suggestions that lodges might break away. BBC “still
does good work,” he said.

What he is after is reform.

“I’m not trying to destroy the organization,” he said. “I’m trying to
get some accountability and transparency.”

Crestohl, who served as BBC president in the late 1970s and who has
been a lodge member for 51 years, said he and the other past
presidents would like to see more BBC members get involved in
organizational governance.

“We need a grassroots movement. We also need some leaders in the
community who give support to B’nai Brith to realize what’s going on
and exert their influence on those running things to revert to being a
democratically run organization,” he said.

Dimant stated that BBI’s appeals court considered all the criticisms
and on July 20, 2007, ruled that “all the accusations have been
debunked.”

“This kind of guerrilla war is baseless and has been judged to be
without merit, without basis and can only be harmful to the total
Jewish community,” he said.

Dimant said B’nai Brith Canada has adopted a new constitution and
rules of governance similar to those employed by many other Jewish
organizations.

In particular, its constitution mirrors that of BBI. The change was
designed to strengthen its governance practices, stated BBC national

In other words at worst only 20% will leave. Jews argue it is well

TORONTO - A nasty battle is brewing at B'nai Brith Canada (BBC) over
allegations the organization's head office has centralized too much
power and is unaccountable to members - despite a decision of B'nai
Brith International's (BBI) court of appeal that appears to have
addressed the issue.

At least three former senior officials of B'nai Brith Canada are
raising concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency at
BBC's head office in Toronto. Dissatisfaction is so great there has
been talk of breaking away to form a new service organization, one of
the ex-officials said.

At the same time, a group calling themselves "concerned members of
B'nai Brith Canada" have launched a newsletter purporting to offer
"BBC news without the spin." Its May 10, 2007, inaugural issue states
the group's goal is to "end the current dysfunctional corporate
governance at BBC and restore it to its once prominent position as a
respected and admired organization both inside and outside the Jewish
community." The group claims to represent lodge past presidents, BBC
past presidents, members of BBC's board of governors and national
administrative board.

The group's concerns were first reported in the New York-based paper
the Forward.

BBC's head office, meanwhile, rejects outright any suggestion there is
anything amiss in the organization's corporate governance. Frank
Dimant, BBC's executive vice-president, said all institutional changes
have been passed lawfully and complaints regarding the organization's
corporate structure have been definitively rejected by B'nai Brith
International's (BBI) highest appeal court. BBI is BBC's parent
organization.

In interviews with The CJN, two former national presidents and a past
chair of the Toronto regional co-ordinating committee said too much
power is concentrated at the organization's head office in Toronto and
the service group's 4,000 members are being shut out of
decision-making. They called for greater corporate accountability and
transparency, particularly strict adherence to the organization's
constitution, which requires the presentation of audited financial
statements prior to the annual general meeting  (AGM).

Henry Gimpel, the onetime regional chair, said a core group of 15 to
20 people, four of them past presidents of BBC, others onetime lodge
presidents, are concerned about the direction the organization has
been taking.

A native of South Africa who immigrated to Canada 20 years ago, Gimpel
said that "problems really started when we stopped getting financial
statements" in advance of the AGMs about seven years ago and when
slates of officers began being chosen by acclamation.

"Everything was manipulated," he said.

"We want accountability. We are raising funds for B'nai Brith. How is
that money used? Where does it go? We don't know."

Gimpel suggested B'nai Brith might face a serious revolt of the lodges
if the organization is not more responsive - perhaps even a
"breakaway" by some. "They're getting more and more fed up. There's
been talk about it," he said.

Morley Wolfe and Harvey Crestohl - both BBC past presidents - said
they want to see B'nai Brith revert to a more democratic,
representative and transparent organization.

Most BBC members don't know or don't care about the goings-on at
headquarters, Wolfe said. They are content to participate in lodge
activities and don't realize the organization has changed, he added.

He discounted suggestions that lodges might break away. BBC "still
does good work," he said.

What he is after is reform.

"I'm not trying to destroy the organization," he said. "I'm trying to
get some accountability and transparency."

Crestohl, who served as BBC president in the late 1970s and who has
been a lodge member for 51 years, said he and the other past
presidents would like to see more BBC members get involved in
organizational governance.

"We need a grassroots movement. We also need some leaders in the
community who give support to B'nai Brith to realize what's going on
and exert their influence on those running things to revert to being a
democratically run organization," he said.

Dimant stated that BBI's appeals court considered all the criticisms
and on July 20, 2007, ruled that "all the accusations have been
debunked."

"This kind of guerrilla war is baseless and has been judged to be
without merit, without basis and can only be harmful to the total
Jewish community," he said.

Dimant said B'nai Brith Canada has adopted a new constitution and
rules of governance similar to those employed by many other Jewish
organizations.

In particular, its constitution mirrors that of BBI. The change was
designed to strengthen its governance practices, stated BBC national
president Gerry Weinstein.

BBC provided The CJN with a one-paragraph statement quoting the BBI
appeals court judgment, but it did not provide any supporting
documentation.

The court ruled: "Having carefully reviewed all the pleadings,
arguments and documentation put forward by the parties, the justices
of this honourable court do unanimously find that there is no basis to
the complaints on which the appellants rely. The amended constitution
of B'nai Brith Canada was duly passed at a legally constituted meeting
of the organization within its governing body's full jurisdiction. No
irregularity in the procedures followed by B'nai Brith Canada has been
made out that would invoke the jurisdiction of this court.
Accordingly, the appeal is hereby dismissed."

Dimant said despite the court's finding, "you have some disgruntled
members, a handful, very small."

He said some have ties to The CJN and can be said to have a personal
conflict of interest in seeking to undermine BBC's Jewish Tribune
newspaper.

As for the others, "we are talking about some individuals who like to
think history was different at one point. I think lots of people want
to recapture youth and reflect on things that didn't happen the way
they remembered.

"My concern is that BBC is a leading Jewish organization, high
profile, which has great government relations. Our League [for Human
Rights] is doing a superb job to battle anti-Semitism. It would seem
to me the energies of these people should be directed forward to help
the Jewish community," he said.

For his part, Gimpel rejects the BBI court decision, calling it "a
travesty of justice."

He speculated that three, perhaps four lodges accounting for 25 per
cent of BBC's membership might eventually leave the organization.

"I give B'nai Brith two years if this carries on. Members are getting
fed up. The lodges will be gone."

Not only was important long-time executive member Lou Ronson kicked out 
>from BB, several other very important long-time members of Upper Canada 
Lodge of BB were also expelled.

Sid Isenberg, the incoming President of the Lodge for 2008, who had not 
even received a notice of expulsion from BB;
the past president of the lodge, Mark Mittelman, and lloyd Lindsay who 
is the incoming third vice-president for 2008.

It seems that the current manipulators of BB just do not want their nefarious
collusion and criminal activites exposed to the light of day, with

of B’nai Brith Canada was duly passed at a legally constituted meeting
of the organization within its governing body’s full jurisdiction. No
irregularity in the procedures followed by B’nai Brith Canada has been
made out that would invoke the jurisdiction of this court.
Accordingly, the appeal is hereby dismissed.”

Dimant said despite the court’s finding, “you have some disgruntled
members, a handful, very small.”

He said some have ties to The CJN and can be said to have a personal
conflict of interest in seeking to undermine BBC’s Jewish Tribune
newspaper.

As for the others, “we are talking about some individuals who like to
think history was different at one point. I think lots of people want
to recapture youth and reflect on things that didn’t happen the way
they remembered.

“My concern is that BBC is a leading Jewish organization, high
profile, which has great government relations. Our League [for Human
Rights] is doing a superb job to battle anti-Semitism. It would seem
to me the energies of these people should be directed forward to help
the Jewish community,” he said.

For his part, Gimpel rejects the BBI court decision, calling it “a
travesty of justice.”

He speculated that three, perhaps four lodges accounting for 25 per
cent of BBC’s membership might eventually leave the organization.

“I give B’nai Brith two years if this carries on. Members are getting

Battle Brewing at B'nai Brith Canada

TORONTO - A nasty battle is brewing at B'nai Brith Canada (BBC) over
allegations the organization's head office has centralized too much
power and is unaccountable to members - despite a decision of B'nai
Brith International's (BBI) court of appeal that appears to have
addressed the issue.

At least three former senior officials of B'nai Brith Canada are
raising concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency at
BBC's head office in Toronto. Dissatisfaction is so great there has
been talk of breaking away to form a new service organization, one of
the ex-officials said.

At the same time, a group calling themselves "concerned members of
B'nai Brith Canada" have launched a newsletter purporting to offer
"BBC news without the spin." Its May 10, 2007, inaugural issue states
the group's goal is to "end the current dysfunctional corporate
governance at BBC and restore it to its once prominent position as a
respected and admired organization both inside and outside the Jewish
community." The group claims to represent lodge past presidents, BBC
past presidents, members of BBC's board of governors and national
administrative board.

The group's concerns were first reported in the New York-based paper
the Forward.

BBC's head office, meanwhile, rejects outright any suggestion there is
anything amiss in the organization's corporate governance. Frank
Dimant, BBC's executive vice-president, said all institutional changes
have been passed lawfully and complaints regarding the organization's
corporate structure have been definitively rejected by B'nai Brith
International's (BBI) highest appeal court. BBI is BBC's parent
organization.

In interviews with The CJN, two former national presidents and a past
chair of the Toronto regional co-ordinating committee said too much
power is concentrated at the organization's head office in Toronto and
the service group's 4,000 members are being shut out of
decision-making. They called for greater corporate accountability and
transparency, particularly strict adherence to the organization's
constitution, which requires the presentation of audited financial
statements prior to the annual general meeting  (AGM).

Henry Gimpel, the onetime regional chair, said a core group of 15 to
20 people, four of them past presidents of BBC, others onetime lodge
presidents, are concerned about the direction the organization has
been taking.

A native of South Africa who immigrated to Canada 20 years ago, Gimpel
said that "problems really started when we stopped getting financial
statements" in advance of the AGMs about seven years ago and when
slates of officers began being chosen by acclamation.

"Everything was manipulated," he said.

"We want accountability. We are raising funds for B'nai Brith. How is
that money used? Where does it go? We don't know."

Gimpel suggested B'nai Brith might face a serious revolt of the lodges
if the organization is not more responsive - perhaps even a
"breakaway" by some. "They're getting more and more fed up. There's
been talk about it," he said.

Morley Wolfe and Harvey Crestohl - both BBC past presidents - said
they want to see B'nai Brith revert to a more democratic,
representative and transparent organization.

Most BBC members don't know or don't care about the goings-on at
headquarters, Wolfe said. They are content to participate in lodge
activities and don't realize the organization has changed, he added.

He discounted suggestions that lodges might break away. BBC "still
does good work," he said.

What he is after is reform.

"I'm not trying to destroy the organization," he said. "I'm trying to
get some accountability and transparency."

Crestohl, who served as BBC president in the late 1970s and who has
been a lodge member for 51 years, said he and the other past
presidents would like to see more BBC members get involved in
organizational governance.

"We need a grassroots movement. We also need some leaders in the
community who give support to B'nai Brith to realize what's going on
and exert their influence on those running things to revert to being a
democratically run organization," he said.

Dimant stated that BBI's appeals court considered all the criticisms
and on July 20, 2007, ruled that "all the accusations have been
debunked."

"This kind of guerrilla war is baseless and has been judged to be

Not only was important long-time executive member Lou Ronson kicked out

Sid Isenberg, the incoming President of the Lodge for 2008, who had not 
even received a notice of expulsion from BB;
the past president of the lodge, Mark Mittelman, and lloyd Lindsay who

It seems that the current manipulators of BB just do not want their nefarious

Battle brewing at B’nai Brith Canada

TORONTO — A nasty battle is brewing at B’nai Brith Canada (BBC) over
allegations the organization’s head office has centralized too much
power and is unaccountable to members – despite a decision of B’nai
Brith International’s (BBI) court of appeal that appears to have
addressed the issue.

At least three former senior officials of B’nai Brith Canada are
raising concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency at
BBC’s head office in Toronto. Dissatisfaction is so great there has
been talk of breaking away to form a new service organization, one of
the ex-officials said.

At the same time, a group calling themselves “concerned members of
B’nai Brith Canada” have launched a newsletter purporting to offer
“BBC news without the spin.” Its May 10, 2007, inaugural issue states
the group’s goal is to “end the current dysfunctional corporate
governance at BBC and restore it to its once prominent position as a
respected and admired organization both inside and outside the Jewish
community.” The group claims to represent lodge past presidents, BBC
past presidents, members of BBC’s board of governors and national
administrative board.

The group’s concerns were first reported in the New York-based paper
the Forward.

BBC’s head office, meanwhile, rejects outright any suggestion there is
anything amiss in the organization’s corporate governance. Frank
Dimant, BBC’s executive vice-president, said all institutional changes
have been passed lawfully and complaints regarding the organization’s
corporate structure have been definitively rejected by B’nai Brith
International’s (BBI) highest appeal court. BBI is BBC’s parent
organization.

In interviews with The CJN, two former national presidents and a past
chair of the Toronto regional co-ordinating committee said too much
power is concentrated at the organization’s head office in Toronto and
the service group’s 4,000 members are being shut out of
decision-making. They called for greater corporate accountability and
transparency, particularly strict adherence to the organization’s
constitution, which requires the presentation of audited financial
statements prior to the annual general meeting  (AGM).

Henry Gimpel, the onetime regional chair, said a core group of 15 to
20 people, four of them past presidents of BBC, others onetime lodge
presidents, are concerned about the direction the organization has
been taking.

A native of South Africa who immigrated to Canada 20 years ago, Gimpel
said that “problems really started when we stopped getting financial
statements” in advance of the AGMs about seven years ago and when
slates of officers began being chosen by acclamation.

“Everything was manipulated,” he said.

“We want accountability. We are raising funds for B’nai Brith. How is
that money used? Where does it go? We don’t know.”

Gimpel suggested B’nai Brith might face a serious revolt of the lodges
if the organization is not more responsive – perhaps even a
“breakaway” by some. “They’re getting more and more fed up. There’s
been talk about it,” he said.

Morley Wolfe and Harvey Crestohl – both BBC past presidents – said
they want to see B’nai Brith revert to a more democratic,
representative and transparent organization.

Most BBC members don’t know or don’t care about the goings-on at
headquarters, Wolfe said. They are content to participate in lodge
activities and don’t realize the organization has changed, he added.

He discounted suggestions that lodges might break away. BBC “still
does good work,” he said.

What he is after is reform.

“I’m not trying to destroy the organization,” he said. “I’m trying to
get some accountability and transparency.”

Crestohl, who served as BBC president in the late 1970s and who has
been a lodge member for 51 years, said he and the other past
presidents would like to see more BBC members get involved in
organizational governance.

“We need a grassroots movement. We also need some leaders in the
community who give support to B’nai Brith to realize what’s going on
and exert their influence on those running things to revert to being a
democratically run organization,” he said.

Dimant stated that BBI’s appeals court considered all the criticisms
and on July 20, 2007, ruled that “all the accusations have been
debunked.”

“This kind of guerrilla war is baseless and has been judged to be
without merit, without basis and can only be harmful to the total
Jewish community,” he said.

Dimant said B’nai Brith Canada has adopted a new constitution and
rules of governance similar to those employed by many other Jewish
organizations.

In particular, its constitution mirrors that of BBI. The change was
designed to strengthen its governance practices, stated BBC national
president Gerry Weinstein.

BBC provided The CJN with a one-paragraph statement quoting the BBI
appeals court judgment, but it did not provide any supporting
documentation.

The court ruled: “Having carefully reviewed all the pleadings,
arguments and documentation put forward by the parties, the justices
of this honourable court do unanimously find that there is no basis to
the complaints on which the appellants rely. The amended constitution
of B’nai Brith Canada was duly passed at a legally constituted meeting
of the organization within its governing body’s full jurisdiction. No
irregularity in the procedures followed by B’nai Brith Canada has been
made out that would invoke the jurisdiction of this court.
Accordingly, the appeal is hereby dismissed.”

Dimant said despite the court’s finding, “you have some disgruntled
members, a handful, very small.”

He said some have ties to The CJN and can be said to have a personal
conflict of interest in seeking to undermine BBC’s Jewish Tribune
newspaper.

As for the others, “we are talking about some individuals who like to
think history was different at one point. I think lots of people want
to recapture youth and reflect on things that didn’t happen the way
they remembered.

“My concern is that BBC is a leading Jewish organization, high
profile, which has great government relations. Our League [for Human
Rights] is doing a superb job to battle anti-Semitism. It would seem
to me the energies of these people should be directed forward to help
the Jewish community,” he said.

For his part, Gimpel rejects the BBI court decision, calling it “a
travesty of justice.”

He speculated that three, perhaps four lodges accounting for 25 per
cent of BBC’s membership might eventually leave the organization.

“I give B’nai Brith two years if this carries on. Members are getting
fed up… The lodges will be gone.”

Not only was important long-time executive member Lou Ronson kicked out
